Our breath is extremely powerful as it is an expansive medium to connect our heart, body and mind. The deeper we breathe, the more relaxed the mind becomes. On an average, a human breathes 20,000 breaths in a day.
Breathwork gives one access to our subconscious where our desires are programmed. When one breathes with intention and purpose, our intuition meets reality and WHAM!! the change is created.
Doesn't that sound like a cakewalk!! Well it does, but due to our fast paced lifestyles, with so much noise around us with range of distractions to deviate us from our purpose,we humans are oriented to intercostal breathing. So what is intercostal breathing? Intercostal breathing is breath that is taken between the muscles of the rib cage that expands the ribs once the breath is taken. Contrarily, diaphragmic breathing is the correct conscious breathing technique where the belly is aware of the rise and release of the air. When we breathe rapidly and shallow in the upper chest, the body feels more tension; whereas diaphragm breathing increases relaxation in the body. The more relaxed the body, the more increase of the flow of breath across the chakras and more powerful our manifestations become.
When we breathe through our stomach, the subconscious is at an increased state of focus as the breath reaches the limbic brain known as the "Seat of Emotions" that stores our subconscious processes. Thus, conscious breathwork activates the subconscious mind, stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system and enhances deep self awareness.
Breathwork is known to have a resonance with the flora and fauna. An average breath a human takes is around 14 to 15 breaths per minute. I would like to throw some light on how our breath connects to the Universe. Few methods are discussed below.
#1 Listening to Animals- When we lower our breath to around 11 breaths per minute, we attune ourselves to the frequencies of animals and sense their emotions.
#2 Communicating with Plants and Trees- Consciously breathing upto 9 breaths per minute allows us to attune our energy with the flora to perceive their subtle responses.
#3 Hearing the Universe's messages- 6 breaths per minute elevates our consciousness where we communicate with the Universe. An ancient Greek Philosopher, Anaximenes, stated "Just as our soul, is made up of air and holds it together, so does breath and air encompass the whole world." The idea of cosmic power permeates the Universe just as breath permeates the human soul
As we individuals slip into meditative states, our body heals and creates a sense of unity consciousness. This consciousness pushes us humans to breathe on autopilot to make our manifestations work.
