This morning, I was thinking about my early teenage years and how my love for music evolved in my growing up years. I have been a music fanatic since a child and during my mid teen years,I started developing a liking towards trance and other sub-genres of trance. To sit to think of it, I was the only one in my extended family to have developed a fine taste for psychedelic trance.
In 2009, I had taken a trip to Goa with my friends and visited Anjuna beach for a sundowner party where the music felt like I was floating in several beams of rainbow light rays. The music was taking me to a detached feeling of my surroundings I was in. Fast forward to today,I understand I was moving towards altered states of consciousness; where an individual goes through a mental state of temporary hypnosis due to external stimuli.
Spiritually speaking, altered states of consciousness are attained by meditation, breathwork, music therapy, and also, near death experiences as the mind connects to higher dimensions o.
The multiple states of the brain frequency enables the human mind to become polyphasic that consists of intervals of sleep and wakefulness in the 24 hour window. This creates the consciousness levels to pace up and connects us to our energy body.
Now,interestingly, recent neuroimaging studies show that practising well being activities by seeking out experiences awakens the consciousness levels such as visits to art galleries, museums, earthing and connecting to nature increases altered states of consciousness as all the senses get activated;sight, sound, thoughts and emotions. This facet of mindful presence enables the soul to deep dive into one's inner world and self observation, this increasing the interconnectedness to all beings.
Finally, getting into a deep state of consciousness provides a profound connection to all living being and the Universe itself. Though this is quite subjective to individual experience but the impact of states of consciousness makes a person connect deeply to mind, body and spirit. The positives of slipping into altered states of consciousness enables the human mins to become more creative, process trauma rapidly and manage pain mindfully.
