The pear shaped organ,in traditional Chinese Medicine, the Gallbladder is the organ that stores the Qi,the yin,the yang and blood. I wanted to understand how the Qi energy really works? The Qi energy is utilized by the bladder to excrete water from the body in the form of urine. The bladder system stores our deepest levels of energies that are rooted in the yin and the yang that runs down through two trajectories of either side of the spine. On a psychological level, the bladder enables to conserve resources such as time, money and energy. Linked to the root chakra, the bladder supports long-term survival of conserving energy and money.
This brings me to think, energy and money are certainly, the driving forces for human existence. The Gallbladder meridian is the organ of Discernment. So why do I say this? Energy and money are both creative,as it is unique to each individual. The Gallbladder is a meridian between the spinal cord and the brain and the flow of emotions and energies occur from the spinal cord. Thus, when there are energetic blockages through emotions such as anger, frustration and bitter emotions, the flow faces an energetic blockage. That being said, when the energetic blockage occurs in the bladder meridian, the fear energy can start to deplete and injure the bladder region.
The gallbladder region is a highly sensitive meridian point in the body, thus people with panic disorders can experience 8 times more bladder pain and urgency. In order to stimulate the bladder meridian, one must move and stretch the spinal cord, stay hydrated by consuming mineral water. Additionally, practising relaxation techniques and sitting near water bodies such as a lake and the river calms the bladder system.
As a sack of smooth muscle, the bladder sits at the base of the pelvis,if there is any stiffness in these muscles that person possesses a strong tendency to force, manipulate and direct others. Contrarily,if the pelvis is flexible, the person is easy going, believes in helping community and is flexible.
The gallbladder is interlinked to the Solar plexus chakra. Thus, when there is an overactive Solar Plexus Chakra, the gallbladder starts to contain gallstones that represent a blocked and hardened energy body that contains negative emotions such as jealousy, envy, ego and other past trauma emotions.
Being the Yang organ, the Gallbladder meridian regulates bile for digestion, influences courage, decision making and emotional regulation. The "Yang function" known to be the active, fiery element in the body shows that the Gallbladder is a transport passage of bile flow rather than just a storage point.
Some simple techniques to healthify and balance the energies in the Gallbladder are discussed below-
#1 Practising Vinayasa or Yin Yoga that focuses on hip opening stretches releases tensed muscle and flow of liquids from the bladder to the urethra.
#2 Cultivating courage and decisiveness by moving plans into action strengthens the gallbladder.
#3 Good sleep hygiene of 8hrs to 9hrs creates proper emotional detoxification. The meridian of the bladder is the most active between 11pm to 1am. Deep restorative sleep between these hours aids in replenishing the organ.
#4 Stimulating the acupressure point GB34 located on the outer lower leg, below the knee helps in stimulating and strengthening the gallbladder.
#5 Somatic exercises such as EFT tapping on the eye corners along with meditation enables emotional release and calms the gallbladder energy.
In my summary, I found a very interesting aspect to the Gallbladder,it runs through the heart centre. The more the heart chakra is open and balanced, the more healthy functioning of the bladder. Thus, operating from a place of kindness, compassion, love and gratitude opens the heart chakra which inturn, balances the gallbladder.
