Fabrics and Spirituality-Does clothing material impact our energy body?
Updated: Aug 27
A random post that I stumbled upon on Instagram, happened to pique my interest on exploring the role of fabrics and spiritual energy. The vibrational frequencies of a fabric is influenced by it's material composition, weave and texture. Dr.Heidi Yellen,a Jewish Doctor, who has explored her research on how fabrics vibrate on certain frequencies, quotes that "natural fabrics carry higher vibrations than synthetic fabrics".More natural and unprocessed a fabric, higher the frequency of it.(Lynas,Amber,Mora,2024) These frequencies influence the mental, emotional and spiritual states of the chakras on that adorner. Different textures and materials are matched with our energy centers i.e.chakras. My next segment includes how certain fabrics operate on different frequencies and their impact on our mind and energy bodies.
#1 Silk- In eastern traditions and Ayurveda, silk is viewed as a pure material that repels lower energetic influences and insulates the body's prana(life force) during meditation and prayer. Silk, being a natural protein fiber helps in maintaining a cleansed aura as it holds a high frequency of 10,000Hz which enhances emotional well being and increases mental clarity. In Hinduism, silk is considered as sattvic as it absorbs negative external energies and moves the energy body to higher and enlightened states. Many metaphysical practioners view silk as a dense barrier that blocks chaotic frequencies latching onto a person's aura. In Buddhism, silk threads are known to create a connection between life and several reincarnations. (projectcece,2025),(Santana.org 2014),(Medium,2025),(Young, S.H. (2025) Morrison,L. (2025)
#2 Linen- Derived from the flax plant, linen is a pure fabric that promotes relaxation and balance to the adorner. This fabric holds a vibrational frequency of 5000Hz that proponents a mindful living and is a fabric that is viewed to hold grounding properties. In Egyptian culture, priests wore pure linen as it represented ritual cleanliness and divine presence. The whites and finer the linen, the higher the purity of the fabric. Linen was an essential part of the mummification of bodies, when wrapped in linen strips was known to preserve the soul for afterlife. Scientifically,a known fibre to promote cellular growth and reduces DNA damage, holds thermoregulating properties, thus prevents the skin from excessive perspiration or dryness. Linen vibrates on a grounded energy basis that helps in circulating high vibrations in the spiritual body of the wearer, thus enhances the chakras to elevate higher.(A.Hallmann,2025),(Ankhegy.com,2023),(Elsieinnaples,2025),(Shantima,2024)
#3 Wool- Just like it's summer contradictory fabric linen, wool vibrates at 5000Hz of frequency as well. Known to have high electrostatic energy,it acts as a healing fabric that insulates the heat of the body and becomes an energetic shield that holds the psychic aura of the adorner and protects the person from draining energies. Energetically, wool is known to be used for deep spiritual work as it increases the microcirculation of oxygen flow within the body.
In both Hinduism and Buddhism, wool is valued for seated practices such as Japa and is highly sattvik for grounding practices. Whereas in Tibetian culture, wool woven auspicious symbols such as the Lotus is used as an insulator for seated meditation that help human chakras from absorbing high frequencies. Wool moves the energy in the body from left to right that aids in healing neuropathic pain, opens up the nerves and regulates the parasympathetic nervous system,as it regulates the rest and digest response.(woolproject,2014),(Kristy Leibel,2024),(empoweredsustenance,2020)
#4 Cotton- Known to vibrate around 100Hz of frequency, lower than linen,in terms of energy, cotton creates a more natural balance matching the frequencies of the human body. Suprisingly, the perfect healthy human body frequency also vibrates at 100Hz. The harmonious resonance of pure cotton promotes emotional calm and physical harmony on the adorner. The more chemical free and unprocessed the cotton, the higher the vibration of the fabric on the energy chakras. Cotton is coined to be "The Fabric of Truth" as it soaks up emotions, absorbs memories and carries an imprint on our day-to-day lives. Energetically, cotton is known to be highly attractive fabric as it posseses the elements of air and space which elevates calm breathing, lightness in the body, easy mobility and overall, calms the nervous system.
Being an earthly fabric,it anchors the adorners thoughts, calms anxiety and maintains healthy nervous states.(homegrid,2023),(Stephen F. Dale,2008),(Sifra Lentin (2017)
The further part of the article will discuss how each chakra is balanced when certain fabrics are worn.
Chakra | Fabric | Impact on the Energy Centers |
Root Chakra (Bojan Matjasic,(2025),(Puri, Archana. (2024) | Cotton and Wool | Wool, known to provide a dense warmth creates a grounded energy to connect with the earth frequencies. Cotton, likewise, creates unrestricted energy flow that reduces anxiety, freely moving energy upward to the spine. |
Sacral Chakra Neha Bothra & Saloni Gupta(2026) | Silk and Satin | A chakra governed by creativity and intimacy energy gets a boost, when silk and satin fabrics are adorned,as they allow emotional energy flow to the pelvic region. Thus, channeling sensuality, grace and embodiment in the sacral region. |
Solar Plexus Chakra Neha Bothra & Saloni Gupta(2026) | Linen and Light Cotton | Cotton and linen, when worn, positively impact the solar plexus area,as it grounds the stimulation of the fire element. These fabrics operate on 100Hz and 5000Hz frequency respectively that calm the mid section region of the body. A lot of positive frequencies get emitted to calm the "fire in the belly" from these fabrics. |
Heart Chakra (Bojan Matjasic,(2025),(Puri, Archana. (2024) | Silk,Velvet and Cashmere | The sense of touch and the air element is managed by the heart chakra that stimulates the thymus gland. When these fabrics are worn, there is a high vibration that is emitted in the nervous system that drops the fight and flight response and elevates emotional freedom. Cashmere, velvet and silk create a flow energy of playfulness and create a sense of safety. |
Throat Chakra (Bojan Matjasic,(2025),(Puri, Archana. (2024) | Cotton and Linen | The breathability of these fabrics clear stagnant energy and allows unrestricted airflow in the energy body Attached to the air element, the throat chakra manages the communication channel, thus wearing cotton and linen fabrics maintains a stillness in the 5th chakra, increasing the light body in the said energy center. |
Third Eye Chakra (Bojan Matjasic,(2025),(Puri, Archana. (2024) | Silk,Cotton and Linen | Amplifying mindfulness and a heightened sensory experience makes these fabrics breathable and restful. Silk, naturally repels bacteria and dust keeping the skin at a good moisture level. Increases mental calmness and softens the chakras, the emotional centers of the Ajna Chakra elevates upwards and opens the inutition window. |
Crown Chakra Neha Bothra & Saloni Gupta(2026) | Silk,Cotton and Linen | Quite similiar to the Third Eye Chakra, the crown chakra gets positively impacted at a frequency of 5000Hz that activates the universal portal of consciousness. The luxurious textures of these fabrics creates heightened inner peace to a point, where the energy is in the highest flow state that creates a widow of cosmic, high frequency downloads of energy from the 12 dimensions of the Universe. |
Drawing conclusions on this discussed articles, brought me to understand that fabrics do have distinct spiritual significance across cultures and choosing fabrics that have high natural fibers,as a personal practice creates a conscious living pattern. A derived relationship with the body energy chakras increases a person's auric field and once worn correctly, there is a greater positive impact on human abundance, consciousness and overall, quality of life.
