Spirituality occurs when our energies are interconnected to all things. This interconnectedness creates a shift in our consciousness and further, our practices that lead us to greater self awareness, empathy and other positive frequencies that impact our brain waves. Harmonious brainwaves indicate greater synchrony from within and fragmented brainwaves create conflicting behaviours in our thinking, feeling and communication.Studies indicate that humans can train their brains to behave in a more "aware" manner by practicing prayer and meditation that ensures the brain to reach a neuronal synchronisation, which simply means higher self connectedness.
A Harvard Business Review(2018) article quoted, Tasha Eurich; a psychologist,"People with greater self-awareness are more confident, make sounder decisions, build stronger relations and communicate effectively". This simply means that the neurons in our brain impact our overall well being. Neurotransmitters are associated with each chakra that play a functional role in regulation of human behaviour.
The next segment of the article will comprise of comprehending the neurotransmitter impact on each chakra. When the spiritual body ascends upwards, the energy moves to a much harmonious state and a grounded state of self awareness is observed.
#1 Root Chakra- The neurotransmitter dopamine is responsible for regulating feelings of pleasure, reward and motivation;healthier the brain, more balanced the root chakra more the feeling of interconnectedness and motivation in the brain.
#2 Sacral Chakra- This chakra is associated with serotonin as the neurotransmitter that regulates our mood, sleep schedules and appetite. More balanced this chakra, the higher the emotional regulation and lower mood swings.
#3 Solar Plexus Chakra- Associated with norepinephrine that regulates our stress response, attention and mood. The Manipura Chakra, when imbalanced leads us to feel anxious, restless and lack of focus.
#4 Heart Chakra- A cumulation of release of dopamine and serotonin neurotransmitters that regulate the thymus gland which produces immunity hormones. When the mind is experiencing pleasure, motivation;feelings of well being escalate and results in higher vibration of the heart chakra.
#5 Throat Chakra- This chakra is not directly linked to a neurotransmitter, however,it is linked to a nerve function. Simply put,it is an energetic function that influences the endocrine system. Meditation and sound vibrations increase the energy flow in the Vishuddha Chakra.
#6 Third Eye Chakra- Melatonin is the neurotransmitter that governs this said chakra that regulates the sleep-wake cycle. When in balance, the third eye produces DMT, a psychedelic compound that moves one to altered states of consciousness and spiritual experience.
#7 Crown Chakra- The neurotransmitter Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid (GABA) is the neurotransmitter managed by the Crown Chakra that regulates anxiety, fear and stress responses. The crown chakra works along with GABA to reduce blood pressure, balance in the nervous system and regulates muscle toning.
In conclusion, it is evident that every neurotransmitter is a conduit that supports energy flow in the body. A range of treatment methods such as Reiki, massages, accupuncture and yoga aid in releasing blocked energy and revitalise the neurotransmitters.
