On a quiet Friday evening, sipping on my hot cup of green tea, listening to my favourite playlist of Psychedelic Trance piqued my interest how music serenades the soul. Back in my yester years, I used to find music like an escape to getting a natural high!! HA!!Does it or doesn't it? Hands down, it does!! Music has been used across many cultures around the world for healing. The spiritual value of music has a lot to do with the purpose behind it. The vibratory nature of sound and music is known to be highly effective in attuning the mind, body, heart and soul. The captivating melodies and harmonious rhythms evoke a range of emotions from happiness to sadness. Proceeding with the celestial angle of music, the movement of celestial bodies, the rhythm of the stars and the vibration of the cosmic background radiation is perceived as a part of a magnificent symphony. Music is seen as a potent instrument as it creates transformation from dense consciousness to subtle consciousness as the neurotransmitters trigger range of sensations of well being, pleasure and peace.

When we think of spirituality,we resonate the concept of music to someone thinking with their heart and not the mind. Music appears as a great power that enables us to travel within and understand what we are. Personally, music has been a freedom of expression for me as it moves my soul incomparably to any other external stimuli. It helps the human brain to rise above the struggles of the physical realms and exuberates soul power.

Adding on to the chakra system perspective to music resonance, it attunes to the throat chakra and solar plexus chakra. A well known musical instrument, the flute is said to stimulate the throat chakra whereas playing the guitar and violin opens up solar plexus chakra.Flute music, wind instruments and piano sounds affect the heart chakra where as ringing bells, sound of water, birds chirping positively impact the the third eye chakra.

Human responsiveness to music begins in the womb of the mother,as the baby is able to hear external sound and also, can detect the speech and hearing element.Guided meditations are a common practice used by spiritual practitioners, wellness and yoga houses as they possess healing constituents which regulates the nervous system and thus, deeply impacting the subconscious mind.

In the age of commercialisation of human strengths and weaknesses, music has led to make people feel good, work better, buy more, drink more, dance more etcetera. It awakens the Garden of Eden within us as it connects with what transcends in our daily life. It leaves wide open, what the spoken and written words restrict to communicate.
