Beyond it's physical appearance, hair carries a deep spiritual significance that transcends time and culture. Hair represents rich symbolism, rituals and beliefs that have influenced humanity throughout history. Each hair strand is made up of several layers. So what do these layers comprise of? These layers consist of range of active cells that get divided and extend from the scalp, forming 6 layers along with the hair shaft. These layers are responsible for strength, growth and structure of a human's hair. These very 6 layers represent a universal numerical frequency of femininity, harmony, balance and cohesive rhythm. The hair follicles emit and communicate with higher dimensions of light and sound in an effortless way.
The scalp area is where the pineal gland, pitutary gland and hypothalamus combine an energetic force to form a human's third eye chakra: rightfully known as the interstellar of communication hub.
As per Scarbough; a spiritually-minded hair stylist quotes that,"The function of hair is said to act as an energetic antenna between the physical and spiritual world." In Far East Asia, long hair is known to be a symbol of vitality and longevity. In Sikhism, uncut hair known as "Kesh" is considered sacred as it demonstrates a commitment to the Sikhs' cultural faith, identity and spiritual connection.
Contratrily, the act of cutting hair shows constant evolution and shedding of old identities and reaching higher states of consciousness as it cuts the cords of old energies, patterns, beliefs and connections. Cutting hair keeps the energy center of the crown chakra open and becomes receptive to picking up others energies around.
Many spiritual masters and Yogis, grow out their hair or wear turbans to protect their crown chakra. There is a strong comparison to the human body and an inverted tree; with the spine as the trunk, the nervous system compared to the branches and the hair to its roots which creates the "Seat of Energy" drawing greater quantity of cosmic rays from the ether.
Hair stores energy of a human's thoughts; thus, long hair is synonymously depicted as someone with heightened intuition. So this brings me to the next segment of the article. Why do so many people face hairfall or hair loss? Hair loss or hairfall is viewed as a desire for freedom from pressures, oppressive authorities or situations that hold excessive control. Hair loss reflects a person's deep seated desire to assert their own authority and independence. Well groomed hair is seen as a reflection of good self esteem and a feeling of being cared and valued by oneself.
Thus, hair is a cosmic conduit of living consciousness and part of one's magnetic field which connects us to our ancestral lineage. Hair helps us connect to our soul's inner divinity.
