The Red String Theory of Fate is an East Asian belief, originating from a Chinese legend, Lauren Kung Jessen, that discussed about a certain ideology, which in Mandarin is known as "Yuangen", that God has tied a red string around the ankles of those who are destined to be soulmates which serves a big purpose for these intertwined souls to discover depth of consciousness levels.
In Korean culture, the red thread is said to be tied around the little finger which is stated as "The magical cord" that may stretch, twist, turn or tangle but never break. This red string denotes a soul bond of unspoken love, trust and hope for happiness and that this person will love you, no matter what it may cost.
There is one specific tale featuring the red thread theory of fate, which I would like to throw some light upon. There was a young boy in the Japanese Folklore, walking home one night, this very boy sees an old man; Yue Xia Lao, standing beneath the moonlight. They both start to talk when the old man explains to the boy that he is attached to his destined wife by a red thread. In amazement, the young boy picks up a rock and throws it at the girl and runs away as he has no interest in having a wife.
Many years later, when the boy had grown into a young gentleman, his parents arranged a wedding for him.On the night of the wedding, his wife awaits for him; with the traditional veil covering her face. While raising the veil, the man was delighted to see that his wife is one of the great beauties of his village. However, she wore an adornment on her eyebrow.
The man; now her husband, asks why does she wear one, and to that the wife responded that when she was a young girl, a boy threw a rock at her, that struck her, leaving a mark on her eyebrow. As she was self-conscious of the scar, she wore an adornment to cover it up.
The woman was, infact, the same young girl connected to the man by a red thread shown to him by Yue Xia Lao, back in his childhood, showing the boy that they both were connected by the red thread of fate.
As I conclude the article,my two cents on the theory would be the red string is a profound cosmic force aka the red thread that guides individuals to their destined partners. This belief underscores the idea that love, in its purest form, is preordained- a concept that resonates deeply with those who seek their soulmates.
