How does one feel when we stand on the window sill of a high rise building? Literally,on top of the world!!! The view of the world becomes quite minimized in size and everything looks like a set of miniature forms. In the spiritual realm, high rise buildings are characterized by upward movement and expansion, whereas spirituality discusses grounding of energies. So how are these two concepts intercepting? The way we connect with the Earth's energy grounds our soul to reach soul consciousness with our physical reality.

As per Chinese Medicine, high rise buildings are usually seen in dense urban cities where the "Sha-Chi" energy becomes stagnant as the flow of the "Chi" energy gets blocked by the sharp corners of buildings. The more the flat is at a lower floor, the more the stability and cohesiveness with the energy of the Earth and vice-versa. Now,as per Yin-Yang theory, the bottom represents grounding energy and the top represents expansion energy. The Yin energy is associated with Earth, cooling, stillness and descending energy. Grounding the Yin energy focuses on slowing down the mental "chatter" which is excessive Yang energy. As per ijert.org(2019), approx.79% of high rise inhabitants report negative well being. Cities like HongKong,Singapore, that are international business hubs have reported psychological isolation and highly restrictive neighbourhood communciation,as per South China Morning Post(May 2019).

This clearly showcases diminished sense of community, social isolation and individualistic living which makes the Yin energy out of balance. Therefore, people who dwell in high rise buildings are said to have elevated consciousness connected to higher realms.

As per Hindu Mythology, elevated buildings symbolize spiritual ascent and divine majesty and at a psychological level, tall buildings evoke authority and strategic thinking. There is a downside to this spin off, where the sympathetic nervous system is imbalanced as contact to natural environment is restricted. Ayurveda medicine discusses the impact on the autonomic nervous system getting deregulated due to stagnant air, reduced movement and elevated carbondioxide. Additionally, there is an increase in the Vata Dosh(Air element in the energy body) that causes anxiety, skin dryness and instability due to increased elevation and artificial environments as the atmosphere doesn't contain precipitation, which can further lead to poor cognition, insomnia and muscle spams.

The human brain is said to experience a deep cognitive shift through the input it receives known as brain priming which occurs when there a complete shift in perspective amongst occupants in high rise buildings where a sense of grandiosity and superiority comes in. A study conducted in Japan proved that infants raised above the 5th floor in high rise buildings faced slower skill development and avoid going outside to play.Furthermore, children face delayed emotional regulation and heightened aggression.(buildingtheskyline.org 2018)

That being discussed, this is a sheer grandiosity entrapment!! Talking about the grandiosity triggers, living in high rise buildings cause feelings of oppression and discomfort, overtime as the mind of the residents get used to being in artificially induced environments that tend to decrease the spatial visual capability of the human mind. Therefore, many people face feelings of oppression and discomfort overtime.

Hence, the lack of the connection to Earth creates a huge sense of imbalance in centeredness of the soul in the human body. The dominance of air and light is way higher amongst people who stay in high rise residences rather than the dominance of the soil and the ground that makes the residents have a sense of detachment to reality.
